About The Library

The Jewish Children’s Library of Baltimore (JCL) was created by a group of dedicated volunteers, united in a common dream to offer the Baltimore Community a place where children can access a large selection of entertaining and inspiring books that reflect Jewish values. Fayge Hackerman, Faige Katz, Rachael Kossman, Chaya Monderer and Blumi Weil are the founding Board Members.  They have dedicated many hours to research community needs, consider all avenues and finalize the best possible solutions to make this library become a reality.

How It Works:

Step 1: Become a Member

The library has a large selection of Jewish books for children aged infant through high school available to borrow for up to 3 weeks at a time. As a member of the library, your family will have access to picture books, chapter books, novels and non-fiction Jewish literature that cover topics of interest for both boys and girls. The collection is meant to offer a rare opportunity for young children to explore Judaism through literature and will hopefully inspire, encourage, and instill a love for Jewish values.

Step 2: Come Visit Us!

The library is centrally located in Shomrei Emunah, a Shul in the heart of the Jewish community. Ample parking is available. We are deeply grateful to Shomrei Emunah for their hospitality and willingness to accommodate this exciting new venture.

Hours of Operation:

  • Sundays Mornings: 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
